This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use this website, how it is used, and the options you have to manage it.
Last updated: 30 September 2025
A.G. Sayyed operates this website (the “Site”). The Site is hosted as a static Hugo build and embeds a contact form powered by Formspree. Because the experience is intentionally lightweight, only a small amount of personal data is collected and it is handled with care.
Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Contact form submissions – When you send a message through the contact form, Formspree captures the fields you submit (typically your name, email address, and the contents of the message) and forwards them to me by email.
- Direct email or responses – If you reply to the email thread or contact me separately, any additional information you share is processed so I can respond.
Information collected automatically
- Server and security logs – The hosting provider records standard log data (IP address, browser details, pages requested, timestamps, and similar) to keep the infrastructure secure and to diagnose issues. This data is retained only as long as necessary for those purposes.
- Formspree diagnostics – Formspree may capture usage metadata (e.g., IP address, user agent, timestamp) to detect spam and deliver messages reliably.
Cookies and tracking
This Site uses Google AdSense to display relevant advertisements. Google AdSense uses cookies to:
- Serve ads tailored to your interests based on your browsing history
- Measure ad performance and prevent click fraud
- Remember your ad preferences
Your data with Google AdSense:
- Google may use cookies and other tracking technologies (like web beacons) to collect information about your browsing activity across websites
- This data is used to show you personalised ads, but Google does not share your identity with advertisers
- You can opt out of personalised ads by visiting Google Ad Settings or by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on
For details on how Google processes your data, see Google’s Privacy Policy.
Essential cookies: The Site may also set essential cookies required for core functionality (for example, to remember accessibility preferences configured by HBStack components). These are necessary for the Site to operate correctly and are not used for profiling or advertising.
How Your Information Is Used
- Responding to enquiries – The primary use of the contact information you provide is to reply to your message and continue the conversation you initiate.
- Maintaining the Site – Aggregated hosting logs help monitor performance, troubleshoot errors, and defend against abuse.
- Planning future improvements – High-level trends (for example, the types of questions raised) may inform what content or features are prioritised next, but individuals are not profiled.
Legal Bases (UK / EU GDPR)
- Consent – By submitting the contact form, you consent to the storage and processing of the details you provide so I can respond.
- Legitimate interest – Server logs and security data are processed to maintain the availability and integrity of the Site.
Data Retention
- Contact messages are kept in my email archive for up to 12 months so I have context for ongoing conversations and follow-ups.
- Server and security logs are typically retained for no longer than 30 days unless they are needed to investigate a specific incident.
- If you want a message deleted sooner, please let me know using the contact details below.
Third-Party Services
- Formspree (Formspree, Inc.) – Processes contact form submissions. Their privacy notice is available at https://formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy.
- Google AdSense (Google LLC) – Displays personalised advertisements on the Site using cookies and other tracking technologies. Google’s privacy practices are detailed at https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can control your ad settings at https://adssettings.google.com.
- Hosting provider – The static site is deployed from GitHub to my hosting platform, which stores routine server logs to operate the service securely.
These providers act as data processors on my behalf and only handle the information that is required to deliver the Site, forward your message, or serve relevant advertisements.
Your Rights
If you are located in the UK, EU, or a region with similar data protection regulations, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information held about you.
- Ask for corrections or deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
To exercise any of these rights, contact me using the details below. I will respond as soon as reasonably possible and within the timelines required by law.
Updates to This Policy
The policy may be updated occasionally to reflect changes in functionality or legal guidance. Material changes will be published on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
