NFC Level 2 Counselling Course Overview

Counselling involves forming a helping relationship with clients, and practitioners may encounter particularly challenging cases that require specialized skills. Professionals in care-related fields, such as nursing and adult care, often transition into training and assessment roles within counselling qualifications.

A crucial aspect of effective counselling practice is the ability to use empathetic understanding to comprehend how clients who have been subjected to discrimination might be feeling. The development of these skills improves with consistent practice and application.

Unit Reflection Framework

There are four units in this course, each designed to build upon the previous one, culminating in a comprehensive understanding of counselling skills and techniques.

At the end of each unit, learners engage with a structured reflection process designed to integrate new knowledge, skills, and behaviors into professional and personal contexts.

The reflection framework consists of three key questions:

  1. How has knowledge improved over this unit?
  2. What skills have been used throughout this unit, and how have they improved?
  3. What new behaviors have been developed over this unit?

Assessment Structure

The course employs both knowledge and competency assessments to evaluate learner progress and achievement.
