Hello, I'm Abdul Ghafoor Sayyed, and I welcome you to my website. Here's a bit about me and what you can find here.
Background
I am based in the suburbs of London, in Reigate, Surrey Hills, UK. My interests span a wide spectrum — from physics and cognitive psychology to software engineering and neuroscience. I hold a BSc in Science with majors in Physics, Mathematics, and Statistics, along with two Postgraduate Diplomas: one in Cognitive Psychology and another in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience.
My introduction to computing began during the era of 5.25-inch floppy disks and 8-bit processors — a time that ignited a lifelong fascination with what machines could do. I initially studied applied physics, where I first encountered BASIC, before transitioning to teaching physics. My first postgraduate diploma in Cognitive Psychology deepened my technical interests further; I took C++ as an elective alongside computer vision, which marked the beginning of my journey in software development. I later completed a module in Object-Oriented Programming at the University of Oxford, working in Java.
Currently, I am focused on machine learning and data science, building models that can generate practical value for businesses and advance the field of applied AI. Alongside this, I develop hybrid applications for mobile and desktop platforms and use the Hugo static site generator to build and maintain this website. My primary goal is to document and share what I learn along the way.
Current Focus
My current work centres on machine learning, data science, and AI engineering — exploring techniques and building projects that sit at the intersection of research and practical application. You will find a selection of my work and findings documented throughout this site.
Beyond Science and Technology
Beyond my technical work, I am deeply interested in spirituality and the philosophy of human existence — particularly how belief systems shape identity and behaviour across cultures and traditions. It is an area that complements my scientific thinking in unexpected ways.
Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I enjoy swimming and spending time in nature. Both offer a counterbalance to screen time — swimming for physical clarity, and the natural world for perspective and inspiration.
